The Effectiveness Of A Problem Based Learning Model On Earth And Solar System Materials With The Assistance Of Pop-Up Books On The Critical Thinking Ability Of Class Vii Students
Abstract
The research focused on 24 students of class VII A and class VII D of SMP Negeri 1 Pitu who had never previously been exposed to topics related to planets and the solar system. The main aim of this research is to find out how effective problem-based learning using pop-up book media is in improving students' critical thinking skills when studying topics related to the earth and the solar system. The method used is a purposive sampling method carried out by considering certain characteristics such as knowledge, experience, expertise, or information relevant to the research topic. During the experimental phase, two different groups were involved: experimental group I and experimental group II. They use inspection and documentation procedures. The pretest results for experimental class I were with an average score of 74.44, while the pretest results for experimental class II were with an average score of 69.72. The post-test results of experimental group I showed a score of 89.44 and experimental group II a score of 74.44, respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that the critical thinking abilities of class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Pitu have improved overall in terms of the subjects they cover.
